Charlotte with bike

Charlotte’s FX+ 7

Bicycle commuting is important to me for many reasons. It offers the ability to combine fitness, minimizes my carbon footprint, and provides stress relief all in one activity. My analog bikes are great, but I find myself making excuses if I am a little short on time, or fatigued from pre pre-work training run. A few years ago I had a class 1 electric bike which I loved for commuting. It provided the opportunity to commute in the cold winter months without having to show up as a sweaty mess. I would bundle up in my jacket, gloves, and snow pants while wearing regular work clothes. The pedal assist gave me a little workout without pushing it over the edge (class 2 ebikes with throttles are not my jam, but more power to ya if you like them). That first e-bike was good, but I was looking for something a little faster and lighter.

Trek’s FX+7 is the answer to all my bicycle commuting prayers! The TQ motor gives a little boost allowing me to workout  while zooming to my destination.  The lightweight frame is easy to maneuver, and the stock rack and fenders are a dream come true for all weather conditions. The battery charges in a matter of hours, and the adjustability in motor power allows me to customize the bike to my needs.

This bike has me looking for reasons to ditch my car just so I can ride it all year round. Happy hour downtown Kalamazoo? FX+7! Mid day class at Intentional Yoga? FX+7! Quick trip to the grocery store? Oh yeah, FX+7!  This bike has transported a box of Sweetwater’s donut holes, hostas to plant in my garden, books from the library, groceries, and so many other things I can’t even remember now. I was not expecting this to become my favorite bike in my fleet, but here we are!
